THE WOMEN BAUHAUS COLLECTIVE
THE BIOGRAPHY
Five talented young graduates, Kristin Chan, Gloria Fan Duan, Lauren Januhowski, Jasmine Deporta and Talia Golchin, from the world’s leading art and design schools – Hong Kong’s Design Institute, The School of Design Institute in Chicago, Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Switzerland’s ECAL, and Central Saint Martins in London – were selected by La Prairie to form the Collective. Mentored by Sabine Marcelis – a close collaborator of the House whose own designs, using smart, sustainable materials, have been irrevocably shaped by Bauhaus – each talent brings a diverse artistic and cultural background. The award-winning designer guided the group through their creative process to reinterpret their own pursuit of harmony, a notion so central of the School of Bauhaus.

THE INSIGHT
“It is about the journey and what you learn on the way, step by step, just like at Bauhaus, where tests of every aspect were fundamental.” - Kristin Chan
“Much of my work is about wanting to organise life’s chaos – to bridge two ideas that may not have an obvious connection between them.” - Gloria Fan Duan
“The women of Bauhaus made the best of the situation they were given within a system that was actively working against them. We can adopt the same principles to continue the fight.”- Lauren Januhowski
“The transgression of gender roles we can see in the example of Bauhaus women is ground-breaking and almost unique for those times; it inspires the faith that things can change.” - Jasmine Deporta
“It is important that in the end we are seen not only as women artists, but as artists.”- Talia Golchin
