A haven of peace and tranquillity, the clinic is located on the Swiss Riviera overlooking Lac Leman and the Swiss Alps.
Visiting in the strictest confidence and secrecy, world leaders and artists such as Charles de Gaulle, Emperor Hirohito, members of the British Royal Family, Sir Winston Churchill, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque all spent time here.
As a field doctor in World War I, he gained extensive clinical experience.
By 1931 he had become a well-known expert in rejuvenation and was working as the head doctor at Clinique La Prairie in Montreux.
That year, he treated a woman who experts agreed would not survive her illness. Convinced that cellular replacement would be beneficial, he administered the groundbreaking treatment.
She recovered and lived a full life, brimming with vitality, for another 40 years. Encouraged by the success of this treatment, Dr Niehans returned to Clinique La Prairie, where he began his work administering the innovative Cellular Therapy to his clients.
