How packaging and eco-design initiatives support La Prairie’s carbon reduction efforts

At La Prairie, we are applying eco-design principles to our packaging transformation initiatives to help reduce packaging-related environmental impacts.

We want to ensure that 100% of our products follow eco-design guidelines by 2030. Our packaging guidelines equip our creative teams to design for sustainability, supporting them to focus first and foremost on reducing the size and weight of our packaging and minimising the number of layers used. Next steps are to incorporate recycled content, improve component recyclability, where recycling infrastructure exists, and where applicable, provide refillable solutions.

As an example, we have refillable packaging available for 4 key products in the Pure Gold collection and for the Platinum Rare Haute-Rejuvenation Mask. Additionally, our recent product launches have also been designed to be lighter, use fewer materials and have improved recyclability. Furthermore, we are piloting takeback recycling programs in select locations globally and via retailers to promote in-store recycling initiatives, enabling clients to return their empty cosmetic containers to be recycled.
